Michael Kors Jet Set in Three Configurations: What Each One Actually Carries
The Jet Set line spans a 15.5-inch tote, a 9-inch crossbody and an 8.25-inch convertible. The published dimensions, not the color, decide which one fits a daily carry.
The Jet Set name covers more ground than any other line in the Michael Kors outlet. A 15.5-inch tote and an 8.25-inch convertible crossbody both carry it, and the difference between them is not a color story — it is seven inches of width and a different way of being carried. Three bags share the name; the configuration decides what each one does.
The width ladder is the whole decision
Width, height and depth are published for all three, and the ladder is clean:
- Tote: 15.5”W × 11”H × 5.5”D
- Crossbody: 9”W × 4”H × 2”D
- Convertible crossbody: 8.25”W × 5.25”H × 3”D
The tote is the only bag measured against a laptop, a change of clothes or a shopping trip — the same arithmetic that decides a 16-inch laptop backpack. The two crossbodies are measured against a phone and a set of keys, and the difference is shape, not volume: the convertible is 0.75” narrower but 1.25” taller and a full inch deeper, so it takes a bulkier item — a compact camera, a glasses case — while the flat crossbody stays closer to the body.
Volume follows the numbers: the tote’s footprint is roughly triple the crossbody’s, and its 5.5” depth is where a water bottle or a packed lunch fits. A 2”D or 3”D bag is a card-and-phone carrier, paperback at best.
Strap, handle, and where the bag sits
The tote’s handle drops 10 inches from the top of the bag to the grip, putting the body at hip height and loading one shoulder. A 15.5-inch-wide tote worn cross-body fights the arm.
The crossbody’s strap adjusts between 23 and 25 inches and rides the bag at the hip across the torso. The 2-inch profile is the point — it slides under a jacket without printing.
The convertible’s detachable strap carries in hand as a clutch or across the body. Its fastening is a snap rather than a zip: faster to open, and the least secure of the three against a bag tipped over in a car seat.
Pockets and fastening, as published
The tote is the most organized: zip fastening, a front slip pocket, and a back zip pocket plus two slip pockets inside. The crossbody has a top-zip fastening and two open interior pockets. The convertible publishes the least: snap fastening, and no interior pockets at all.
Saffiano leather is common to all three. The tote page says the leather comes from tanneries meeting the highest standards of environmental performance; the crossbody page names Leather Working Group Gold or Silver certification; the convertible page says only 100 percent leather. Hardware splits the set: silver-tone on the tote and crossbody, gold-tone on the convertible. Style numbers are 35H1STVT3L, 32S4STVC3L and 38S9YTTC6L.
The three bags
Jet Set Large Color-Block Tote is the capacity option, published at 15.5”W × 11”H × 5.5”D with a 10-inch handle drop, a front slip pocket and a back zip pocket inside, in Saffiano leather with silver-tone hardware. Jet Set Large Crossbody is the flat option, published at 9”W × 4”H × 2”D with a 23-to-25-inch adjustable strap, two open interior pockets and a top-zip fastening, and the only one of the three that names its tannery certification. Jet Set Large Convertible Crossbody is the two-in-one, published at 8.25”W × 5.25”H × 3”D with a detachable strap and snap fastening in Saffiano leather with gold-tone hardware, and the only one that publishes no interior pocket layout.

The five-minute check
Measure the widest thing that has to ride in the bag every day — a laptop, a folder, a water bottle — and compare it against 15.5, 9 or 8.25 inches. Then measure the coat worn most: if the crossbody strap has to clear it, the published 23-to-25-inch range is the number to check. The line’s spread is wide enough that the wrong pick shows in a week; the right one lasts years. If the bag has to double as luggage, the weekender capacity guide runs the same check against airline limits.
The picks
Jet Set Large Color-Block Tote
Best for capacityThe only bag in the line measured for a laptop and a change of clothes: 15.5 × 11 × 5.5 in with a 10-inch handle drop, zip fastening, a front slip pocket and a back zip pocket inside. Saffiano leather with silver-tone hardware. The trade-off is the carry — one shoulder, at hip height, with no strap option published.
What works
- — 15.5 in width and 5.5 in depth hold a 13-inch laptop class plus a water bottle
- — Most organized of the three: front slip pocket, back zip pocket, two slip pockets inside
- — Saffiano leather from tanneries meeting published environmental standards
What doesn't
- — Handle-only carry loads one shoulder at 10 inches of drop
- — No strap published, so no cross-body option
- — Dust bag explicitly not included
Jet Set Large Crossbody
Best for flat carryA 9 × 4 × 2 in flat crossbody with a 23-to-25-inch adjustable strap, top-zip fastening and two open interior pockets, and the only one of the three that names its leather sourcing: Leather Working Group Gold- or Silver-certified tanneries. The 2-inch profile is built to slide under a jacket, which also caps what fits inside.
What works
- — 2 in depth keeps the bag flat and printable-free under a jacket
- — 23–25 in adjustable strap rides at the hip across the torso
- — Leather Working Group certification named on the product page
What doesn't
- — 2 in depth excludes water bottles and packed lunches
- — Only two open pockets, no zip pocket inside
- — Narrowest of the three at 9 in wide
Jet Set Large Convertible Crossbody
Best for two carry modesAn 8.25 × 5.25 × 3 in convertible with a detachable strap that carries in hand as a clutch or across the body, snap fastening, and gold-tone hardware on Saffiano leather. Taller and deeper than the flat crossbody but 0.75 in narrower. The page publishes no interior pocket layout, which is the least of the three on organization.
What works
- — Detachable strap covers clutch and crossbody in one bag
- — 3 in depth takes a bulkier item than the flat crossbody
- — Snap fastening is quick to open one-handed
What doesn't
- — Interior pocket layout not published at all
- — Narrowest width of the three at 8.25 in
- — Snap is the least secure fastening of the set

FAQ
- Is the Jet Set tote big enough for a laptop?
- The 15.5 by 11 inch tote swallows a 13.6-inch MacBook Air (11.97 by 8.46 in) flat with room to spare. The 15.3-inch Air measures 13.40 by 9.35 in, so it fits in width with about 2 in spare but leaves only 1.65 in of height — a sleeve pushes that to the edge. Measure the laptop rather than trusting the diagonal.
- Do all three bags include a dust bag?
- No. The tote and the convertible pages both state 'dust bag not included', and the crossbody page does not list one. If bags are stored on a shelf rather than carried daily, budget for storage separately.
- Is the leather certified?
- Only the crossbody page names a program: the leather comes from tanneries holding Leather Working Group Gold or Silver certification. The tote page says the leather comes from tanneries meeting the highest standards of environmental performance without naming one, and the convertible page says only 100 percent leather. If traceability matters, the crossbody is the only one that publishes it.
